Lavender blackberry ice cubes will brighten any summer drink. Fresh lavender and blackberries make this recipe smoothie worthy. Use an ice mold and the rich berry color will add a new dimension to your punch bowl. With fresh lavender from The Fresh Herb Company in Boulder County, Colorado Mama Caruso and Chet Anderson talked about ways to use these lavender blackberry ice cubes. The possibilities are endless – watch this Facebook LIVE episode of Mama Caruso Cooks Hacks and Tips, Lovin’ Lavender and then make some lavender mojitos or peppermint iced tea to drop these gems into.
- 2 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 cup sugar
- ¼ cup fresh lavender
- 1¼ cup lemonade or limeade
- ½ cup of fresh lemon juice
- Blend all ingredients
- Pour into desired ice cube tray or ice mold
- Freeze
Mama’s Notes:
Tips
For a firmer ice cube, substitute water for the limeaid
Double the batch and make smoothies out of half of the blended mixture – just add a sparkling soda of your choosing and you will be glad you did.
The color of the blackberry is dark and will change the color of the drink you put it in.
To make lavender blackberry ice cubes your own:
- add other fresh herbs – especially mint!
- add some lemon zest
- make them into popsicles
- add other fresh berries like raspberries or blueberries
Our test kitchen crew drank the first batch using tangerine izzies and ginger beer – super yummy. Have fun with it – make it your own. I would love to hear what you did to make this recipe your own. Let me know!
