Bacon Donuts

Ingredients
  • 10 ounces butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups flour can substitute with 1 to 1 gluten free flour I use Bob's Red MIll
  • 4½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 12 strips of bacon, cooked until crispy and chopped into small pieces
Instructions
  1. Cook the bacon until crispy and when cooled chop into small pieces
  2. To prepare the batter:
  3. Blend butter and sugar until smooth
  4. add eggs and mix until well mixed
  5. In a separate bowl mix flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg
  6. Mix the flour mixture into the butter and sugar mixture and stir until all ingredients are moist
  7. add milk and mix well
  8. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  9. Spray or grease donut pans
  10. sprinkle the cooked chopped bacon into the bottom of the donut pan
  11. spoon the batter on top of the bacon, filling the pans ⅔ full
  12. Bake for 15 minutes or until the tops are a light brown
